How does the GTIN check digit validator work?
Use the validator to inspect numeric identifiers with GTIN-8, UPC-A, EAN-13 or GTIN-14 lengths. Paste one value per line so the tool can check each structure and check digit while preserving leading zeros. A result with a valid check digit means the arithmetic is consistent for that identifier.
Product assignment is a separate check. Compare the identifier with your supplier information or an authoritative GS1 record before adding it to a product feed. A checksum alone cannot tell you whether the code belongs to your item, a different variant or another company.
HOW TO USE IT
Three practical steps.
- Paste up to 100 GTINs, one per line.
- Check allowed lengths, numeric content and checksum.
- Verify the assignment with GS1 or your supplier before using the number.
WHAT THE RESULT MEANS
Know the limits.
Does not query GS1, verify ownership, detect every restricted prefix or establish destination acceptance. A passing check digit is not proof of a correct product identifier.
